This specialised unit will develop and enhance your leadership and management skills by exploring the breadth of social, economic and ethical contexts professionals face in the marketing communication industry. The coursework exposes you to recent developments in professional practice and delivers transferable and adaptable creative skills set, to craft better solutions for authentic problems and form the foundation of your ongoing professional development. Specialised content such as problem-solving, decision making, delegation, negotiation, internal and external stakeholder management, will enhance knowledge and skills applicable to fluid, and often ambiguous, work environments.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Identify and discuss key concepts relevant to the field of leadership and management;
2. Diagnose a complex problem or an opportunity in a given leadership or management context; and
3. Develop a management plan appropriate to an authentic scenario demonstrating the ability to apply theory to practice.

A basic level of digital competency is assumed, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and other standard office applications, navigate the University's online learning systems, and complete digital learning activities and assessments independently. These skills are considered essential for successful participation in this unit.

Students are expected to be able to access materials on the unit's Canvas site, and competency in PC-based MS operating systems is expected (PowerPoint, Word). The use of screen and video sharing software is important for this unit.
