UC Indigenous Australian HDR Stipend Scholarship
The Indigenous Australian Higher Degree by Research Stipend Scholarship supports engaged and ambitious indigenous applicants to undertake a PhD or Master by Research course.
How to Apply?
Apply through the HDR Application Portal.
Funding and duration
$36225 per annum (2025 rate, tax-free) stipend up to four years for a doctoral course and two years for a masters course.
$10,000 of research funding is available to be used for any cost related to the project.
Eligibility
- enrolled, or seeking to enrol, as a full-time candidate in a Higher Degree by Research course at the Âé¶¹´«Ã½;
- meet the requirements for admission; and
- identify as an Indigenous Australian.

W J Weeden Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Research Scholarship
This Scholarship is generously funded by the family of the late W J Weeden.
How to Apply?
Apply through the HDR Application Portal.
Funding
- $36,225per annum (2025 rate, tax-free) stipend to assist with living costs, indexed annually.
- reimbursement of Overseas Health Cover (OSHC for single person). Further details in the Conditions of Award.
- International candidates will also be awarded an RTP Fee Offset scholarship to cover tuition fees.
Duration
- 3.5 years
Eligibility
- completed a Bachelor degree with First Class Honours, or be regarded by the University as having an equivalent level of attainment
- be enrolled, or seeking to enrol, as a full-time candidate in a Doctor of Philosophy course at the University
- domestic student (Australian citizen or permanent resident, New Zealand citizen) or international student.

Australian Research Training Program Fees Offset Scholarship
Eligibility
- domestic student (Australian citizen or permanent resident, New Zealand citizen)
- applying for or currently undertaking a Higher Degree by Research course (PhD, Professional Doctorate, Masters by Research).
- A RTP Fees Offset Scholarship may be offered to international HDR candidates whose application for an RTP, University-funded or W J Weedon stipend scholarship has been assessed as competitive by the University Research Scholarship Committee.
How to Apply?
- No application required for domestic candidates.
- International RTP, University-funded or W J Weedon stipend scholarship recipients may be awarded a RTP Fee Offset Scholarship. No application required.

CanBe lab scholarship
Overview of the scholarship
The Canberra Behavioural Lab (CanBe Lab) scholarship by the Faculty of Business, Government and Law is for a project that explores how the use of technology by consumers or organisations affects creative abilities and curiosity to explore topics. This project centres around the concepts of consumer or organisational technology use, creativity, curiosity and empowerment.
Funding details (what the stipend/scholarship covers)
- a stipend of $40,000 pa (indexed).
Duration
- 3.5 years commencing Semester 1 2027.
Eligibility criteria
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- meet university PhD admission requirements (completion of a Master of Research or Honours degree (first class) in a related area)
- meet university English language requirements
- not have previously completed a PhD
- be able to commence the program in the year of the offer
- enrol as a full-time PhD student

Email the CanBe lab director Dr. Ryan Payne Ryan.Payne@canberra.edu.au with a CV including results of undergraduate and research masters/honours degrees, and one page research proposal containing proposed thesis title and theoretical problem in business field to be addressed. The successful applicant will then be required to apply formally to enrol in the Ph.D.
Due date
Initial queries must be received by August 15th 2026 to enable the selected candidate to develop the Expression of Interest proposal with selected supervisors.
CSIRO Industry PhD scholarship program
CSIRO's Industry PhD (iPhD) Program brings together an industry partner, a university and Australia’s leading science agency, CSIRO, to co-develop a four-year industry-focused PhD project. It provides PhD students with a unique skill set to focus on impact driven research.
How to Apply?
The program has yearly intakes with most projects planned to commence in February/March. Project opportunities, including how to apply, will be advertised on the as they become available.

- a four-year Project Expense and Development package of up to $13,000 pa

Geospatial Modelling of Dengue Co-Funded Stipend PhD Scholarship
The Geospatial Modelling of Dengue is awarded to an applicant of exceptional research potential undertaking a PhD on the Public Health. This PhD project aims to investigate the impact of climate change on the transmission of dengue fever in the Asia Pacific region.

Elite Editing Thesis Write-up Scholarship
How to Apply?
- Applications will open on 1 January and close on 30 June each year.
- The scholarship will be awarded prior to 31 July each year.

Funding
- For students who do not hold another scholarship, a stipend of $1,000 per fortnight for six fortnights ($6,000 in total), tax free.
- For students who do hold another scholarship, a stipend of $600 per fortnight for six fortnights ($3,600 in total), tax free.

- 6 fortnightly payments
Eligibility
- Students must be enrolled full time in a research degree (Masters or PhD) at an Australian or New Zealand university.
- Part-time students are eligible to apply for the scholarship only in circumstances where the applicant is able to demonstrate heavy carer commitments or a medical condition that precludes them from studying full time.

Fullbright Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Scholarships
Fulbright Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Scholarships allow postgraduate students undertaking their Australian PhD to conduct research in the U.S. OR supports postgraduate students not currently enrolled in a degree program to undertake a U.S. postgraduate program such as a master’s or PhD or conduct a period of research towards their Australian PhD.

Funding
Benefits vary per award. Can include:
- Monthly stipend based on the cost of living in the city of the host institution

- Establishment allowance (one-time payment)

Fulbright Indigenous Scholarships (funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency)
The Fulbright Indigenous Scholarship is for an Indigenous student/scholar to undertake a research program in the U.S. Scholarships are available in any field of academic study, across any category – postgraduate, postdoctoral or scholar.
This scholarship was established to recognize Indigenous leaders’ commitment to achieving excellence, while seeking an international perspective and collaboration through their studies/research.
